Michael Anello has more than 15 years experience in the criminal justice system, having spent five years as a Probation Officer, including two right here in Key West. As a Private Attorney and former Prosecutor in two different Circuits, he has litigated thousands of cases, including more than 40 jury trials involving charges ranging from Robbery to Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

As an associate attorney with the firm, Catherine is responsible for handling the foreclosure defense and quiet title action caseload. She has a solid background litigating lien foreclosure actions that included practicing in federal bankruptcy court on behalf of homeowner and condominium associations. Prior to and while attending law school, Catherine was a paralegal in Michigan for almost ten years focusing primarily on civil litigation and medical malpractice insurance defense. After law school and before becoming licensed to practice law, Catherine worked for an international public accounting firm in both the federal tax and nonprofit tax departments where she specialized in international corporate tax, high wealth individual taxation and the taxation of exempt organizations. Catherine holds a “PTIN” designation with the I.R.S. and enjoys preparing tax returns for individuals and small businesses in her spare time during busy season.

Marie Jorczak has worked in the legal field for over 25 years. As a paralegal, Marie has worked in the areas of civil litigation, corporate transactions, criminal and bankruptcy law in law firms in Florida, Nevada and Delaware.



Monica Rodriguez
Office Administrator/ Legal Assistant

Monica Rodriguez has been in the legal field since 2002 and has been specializing in Personal Injury law for approximately 11 years.  She obtained a certificate in legal studies from Florida International University in 2002 and is currently obtaining her Associates in Arts degree. Once completed, Monica is looking forward to becoming a Certified Registered Paralegal. Monica is also fluent in Spanish.


Maria Protopsaltis, MBA
For nearly a decade, Maria Protopsaltis has been professionally employed as a paralegal as well as in office management, executive administration, supervising staff and working with the public. Maria provides high-level support in a variety of industries and across multiple functional areas. Her colleagues and managers proudly credit her professionalism, organizational skills, dedication to her position and compassion to clients and fellow employees in speaking loudly to the type of person she is. Holding a Master’s of Business Administration with concentration on Entrepreneurship from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Maria has worked with the most prestigious companies in the world. Cari Rodriguez serves as Legal Assistant to Attorney Samuel J. Kaufman in the Family Law division.Cari is a seasoned and energetic assistant who consistently exemplifies passion with a helpful demeanor. Her strong value for justice and harmony motivates her to work hard for our clients and to ensure every voice and perspective is heard. Her compassion and optimism drives her to encourage clients to reach for a brighter vision helping them endure the sometimes difficult dynamics of Family Law.
Cari is also a Florida State Commissioned Public Notary since 2014.


Caroline Speyerer
Receptionist/Accounts Receivable Clerk

Caroline Speyerer is the firm’s receptionist and accounts receivable clerk. She has a background in customer service, accounting, and billing. Caroline is extremely tech savvy and also speaks fluent Spanish. She is friendly, enthusiastic and always willing to help our team and our clients.



Julia V. Kaufman
Office Manager

Julia has been managing our law firm since 2007. She has a strong background in Marketing, Advertising and Project Management. Julia earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication, with a minor in Marketing & Psychology from the  University of Miami . Additionally, she has a minor in Organizational Psychology from The University of  Tel Aviv, Israel.  Previously,  Julia worked at  Motorola, CBS and and brings those experiences and knowledge to our firm.  Julia continuously strives to improve our firm by implementing new policies and procedures with regards to billing, technology, administration, PR, and customer satisfaction.
